Bio


Steven Madey, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with over 25 years of experience, specializing in hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder conditions. He provides expert care to patients at Summit Orthopaedics in Lake Oswego, Oregon. 

Dr. Madey is recognized for his expertise in hand and microvascular surgery and serves as a Level 1 trauma surgeon, providing advanced care for complex injuries. He completed his undergraduate degree at Hofstra University in New York before earning his Doctor of Medicine from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. 

Dr. Madey then completed his orthopedic surgery residency and fellowship in hand and microvascular surgery at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics. After his training, he relocated to Oregon, where he has been serving patients in the Portland Metro area ever since.

Dr. Madey is well-known for his patient-centered approach, focusing on personalized treatment plans to help patients restore function and reduce pain. He treats a wide range of conditions, including fractures, joint dislocations, carpal tunnel syndrome, nerve injuries, bicep tendon injuries, shoulder replacements, Dupuytren’s contracture, and more.

Recognized by his peers, Dr. Madey was named a Portland Monthly “Top Doctor” in 2018 and three out of the last five years. He is also the recipient of the Henderson Prize for Excellence in Medical Writing. 

Beyond patient care, he is a published researcher and co-editor of the Iowa Orthopaedic Journal, and he is actively involved in medical innovation and product safety development.

When he’s not in the operating room, Dr. Madey enjoys running, golfing, and spending time with his wife and two sons. He is a respected member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Oregon Medical Association, and the Western Orthopaedic Association.
